About our content
Medical Review Policy
Every page that describes a treatment, medication, or medical condition is reviewed by a licensed clinician before it is published, and reviewed again on a regular schedule. Here is how that works.

What we review
Clinical review applies to any content that could influence a health decision, including:
- Treatment and service pages, including how a treatment works, who it suits, risks, side effects, recovery, and expected results.
- Medication pages, including dosing, schedules, and safety information for prescription treatments such as semaglutide and tirzepatide.
- Condition pages, such as melasma, acne scarring, and sun damage.
- Frequently asked questions, comparison tables, and blog articles marked "Clinically reviewed by".
Who reviews our content
Medical content is reviewed by licensed clinicians on our team:
- Dr. Susan Lovelle, MD, Medical Director and Co-Owner (North Carolina medical license #200201488).
- Adriana Sandoval Veliz, RN, MSN, Owner and Lead Injector (North Carolina nursing license #338111).
What the review line means
A "Clinically reviewed by" line names the clinician who checked the page for medical accuracy and shows the date of that review. Full credentials for each clinician are on our team page.
How we write and source medical information
Our content is written by the La Miel team to help patients understand their options before a consultation. Drafts may be prepared with the help of writing tools, including AI. No draft is published until a licensed clinician on our team has reviewed it.
We base medical statements on reliable sources, including:
- U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) prescribing information and product labeling.
- Manufacturer instructions for use for the products and devices we offer.
- Peer-reviewed medical research.
- Guidance from professional medical organizations in dermatology and aesthetic medicine.
- The clinical experience of our providers, which we identify as such.
How often content is reviewed
Medical pages are reviewed at least every six months, and sooner when FDA labeling, product availability, or clinical guidance changes. The date of the most recent review appears on each reviewed page.
Spanish-language content
Our Spanish pages are prepared from the reviewed English content. A bilingual member of our team reviews each Spanish page for accuracy and clarity. Product names stay in English so they match what you will see on packaging and in your treatment records.
Brand and product names
We name specific products, such as Botox, Juvederm, or Sculptra, because they are treatments we offer. Mentioning a product is not an endorsement of our website by its manufacturer.
This is not medical advice
The information on this website is for general education. It does not replace an in-person consultation and does not create a provider and patient relationship. Whether a treatment is right for you depends on your health history and an examination by a licensed provider.
If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 911.
Corrections and feedback
If you believe something on our website is inaccurate or out of date, please tell us. A clinician will review your note, and we will correct the page if needed.
