Skin & Laser

Chemical peels, formulated for your skin.

The best chemical peel in Raleigh is not the strongest peel. It is the right formulation at the right depth for your Fitzpatrick skin type and concern. Glycolic, lactic, mandelic, salicylic, Jessner’s, and TCA peels all do different things on different skin. At La Miel Aesthetics, we carry a range of medical-grade formulations and select specifically for the patient in front of us.

What this is

How chemical peels work

Chemical peels apply medical-grade acid solutions to the skin to accelerate turnover. Dead, damaged surface cells shed, allowing fresher, smoother skin underneath to emerge. Depending on peel depth, the effect can range from a subtle brightening (light peels) to significant resurfacing with days of downtime (medium and deeper peels).

The right peel choice depends on three factors: what you are treating, your skin type, and how much downtime you can accept.

Our peel menu

  • Light peels (gentle, minimal downtime)

Glycolic acid (20 to 40%) for brightening and mild texture. Lactic acid for gentler AHA action on sensitive skin. Mandelic acid for slower penetration, ideal for Fitzpatrick IV-VI, acne-prone, and pigmentation-prone skin.

Suited for: Brightening, maintenance, sensitive or melanin-rich skin.

  • Medium-depth peels

Jessner’s solution (layered salicylic, lactic, resorcinol) for moderate resurfacing. Modified TCA for sun damage, fine lines, and texture (used more conservatively on darker skin). Face Reality peels specifically formulated for acne and post-acne pigmentation.

Suited for: Sun damage, texture, post-acne pigment, acne-damaged skin.

  • Targeted peels

Salicylic acid for acne and oily skin (beta-hydroxy acid, oil-soluble). Specialized depigmentation peels for stubborn melasma when indicated.

Suited for: Active acne, oily skin, stubborn pigmentation.

Who this is for

How we choose your peel

By skin type: Fitzpatrick I-III patients have the full menu available, including medium-depth TCA when indicated. Fitzpatrick IV-VI patients prefer mandelic, lactic, gentle Jessner’s, with TCA at restricted concentrations and careful prep.

By concern: sun damage and dullness respond to glycolic, Jessner’s, or TCA series. Acne responds to salicylic and Face Reality protocols. Post-acne pigmentation responds to mandelic, lactic, or Face Reality. Melasma responds to mandelic and gentle Jessner’s as part of a broader protocol.

By downtime tolerance: no downtime calls for light glycolic, lactic, or mandelic. Three to five days of visible peeling calls for medium glycolic, Jessner’s, or light TCA. Seven to fourteen days of visible downtime calls for deeper TCA or layered medium peels.

What to expect

Peel series

Most concerns are best addressed with a series of 4 to 6 peels spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance every 2 to 3 months. A single peel can deliver visible brightening, but lasting change comes from the series.

  1. Consultation

Skin assessment, history of prior peels or actives, and a peel plan matched to your skin type and concern.

  2. Each session

Cleanse, prep, apply peel solution in layers if indicated, neutralize, soothe, sunscreen. Most light to medium peels take 30 to 45 minutes.

  3. Recovery per session

Light peels: 0 to 2 days of mild flaking. Medium peels: 3 to 7 days of visible peeling. Deeper peels: 7 to 14 days.

  4. Series outcome

Cumulative texture, tone, and pigment improvement over the series, with maintenance every 2 to 3 months afterward.

Pricing

A note on pricing

Peels are priced per session, with light peels at the lowest tier and medium-depth peels priced higher. Series packages and membership pricing reduce per-session cost. Consultation includes a per-plan quote.
