Wellness & Body

A complete medical weight loss program, not a prescription.

Our semaglutide clinic in Raleigh operates as a complete clinical program, not a medication-dispensing service. Directed by Dr. Susan Lovelle, MD, whose training includes functional and lifestyle medicine, our medical weight loss service combines GLP-1 therapy (semaglutide or tirzepatide) with body composition monitoring, protein-forward nutrition guidance, and a taper plan built in from day one.

  • Physician-directed (Dr. Susan Lovelle, MD)
  • Starts at $330
  • Full medical screening
  • Body composition tracking
  • Nutrition protocol

What this is

What's included in our program

Eight pieces, all built in. Skip any one of them and the program becomes the kind of GLP-1 service patients have been getting from telehealth subscriptions, and the outcomes show it.

For the patient-side view of our program (who it is for, what results look like, how the journey unfolds), see our Medical Weight Loss concern page. This page covers what you will experience clinically.

Program components

  • Initial medical consultation and screening

A complete intake with Dr. Lovelle including medical history, medication review, contraindication screening, and discussion of your goals and expectations. For certain patients, baseline labs.

  • Baseline body composition analysis

Establishes starting body fat, muscle mass, and water composition so we track what is actually changing during your program. Reassessed at month three and again at goal.

  • Personalized prescription protocol

Based on your screening, we prescribe semaglutide or tirzepatide at the appropriate starting dose. Medication is supplied through a vetted compounding pharmacy or branded prescription (your choice based on preference, cost, and insurance coverage).

    Compare Semaglutide vs. Tirzepatide

  • Structured titration schedule

GLP-1 medications are titrated (gradually increased) over 4 to 5 months to reach therapeutic dose while managing side effects. We adjust your titration based on your response, not a generic calendar.

  • Monthly follow-up appointments

In-person or telehealth check-ins to monitor weight, body composition changes, side effects, and nutrition adherence. Included in program fee.

  • Protein and nutrition guidance

Customized protein targets based on body composition, practical nutrition coaching, micronutrient guidance, hydration strategy. This is the piece most programs skip.

  • Built-in taper plan

When you reach your goal (or when you are ready to stop), we reduce your dose systematically over 2 to 4 months while reinforcing nutrition and lifestyle maintenance. This is what prevents rebound weight gain.

  • Coordination with body contouring

If loose skin becomes a concern as weight loss progresses, we coordinate non-surgical body contouring into your overall plan.

Who this is for

Semaglutide vs. tirzepatide

Both are FDA-approved for weight management (tirzepatide for Type 2 diabetes and for obesity as Zepbound). Tirzepatide typically produces slightly greater weight loss (20 to 22 percent of body weight over 12 months versus around 15 percent on semaglutide in clinical trials) but costs slightly more. We discuss both during consultation and recommend based on your goals, medical history, and response.

What to expect

Side effects and management

Most patients experience some nausea, constipation, fatigue, or mild GI discomfort during titration. These symptoms typically improve as your body adjusts. Rare but serious complications (pancreatitis, gallbladder issues) are screened for during intake and monitored throughout.

  1. Adjusted titration

We slow the titration pace for sensitive patients rather than push them through symptoms.

  2. Nutrition and hydration strategies

We coach specific tactics that reduce GI symptoms (smaller meals, protein-forward intake, hydration timing).

  3. Temporary supplements

When indicated, magnesium, B-complex, or electrolyte support shorten side-effect windows.

  4. Pause or reduce

Ability to pause or reduce dose if symptoms are severe. We adjust the plan, not push through.
