Laser Treatments

Revivo fractional laser in Raleigh, for tone and texture.

The Revivo fractional laser in Raleigh NC is a dual-wavelength, non-ablative platform at La Miel Aesthetics. It pairs a 1927 nm wavelength for surface concerns like sun damage and uneven tone with a 1550 nm wavelength that reaches deeper for texture, fine lines, and scarring. Because the surface stays intact, recovery is measured in days rather than the longer window of ablative resurfacing.

What this is

What the Revivo fractional laser does

Non-ablative fractional lasers heat thousands of microscopic columns of skin without removing the surface. Each column is surrounded by untreated tissue, which acts as a reservoir for fast repair. The skin responds by shedding damaged surface cells and building new collagen, so improvement builds gradually over a series rather than all at once.

Revivo combines two wavelengths that do different jobs. The 1927 nm wavelength is absorbed strongly by water near the surface, which makes it well suited to sun damage, uneven tone, and surface pigment. The 1550 nm wavelength penetrates deeper into the dermis, where it targets fine lines, rough texture, and scarring. Peer-reviewed reviews of dual 1550 nm and 1927 nm systems describe exactly this split, and the two can be used separately or together in the same session.

Compared with ablative lasers like CO2 and erbium, non-ablative fractional treatment asks for far less recovery, and the trade-off is that each session does less. That is why it is usually planned as a series. It is also generally a better-matched option than ablative resurfacing for many patients with deeper skin tones, with appropriately conservative settings.

What we treat with the Revivo fractional laser

The wavelength, energy, and coverage are chosen per patient. A plan for sun spots looks very different from a plan for textural scarring, and many patients benefit from a combination of both wavelengths.

  • Sun damage and uneven tone

The 1927 nm wavelength works close to the surface, where sun spots, freckling, and blotchy tone live. Published research on 1927 nm fractional treatment reports meaningful improvement in sun-related facial pigmentation after a short series.

Suited for: Patients with visible sun damage, sun spots, or uneven tone on the face, neck, chest, or hands.

  • Rough texture and enlarged-looking pores

Stimulating collagen with the deeper 1550 nm wavelength while refreshing the surface with 1927 nm leaves skin feeling smoother and looking more refined over a series of treatments.

Suited for: Patients who want smoother, more even skin without a long recovery.

  • Fine lines

The 1550 nm wavelength targets the collagen changes behind early fine lines. It works on the skin itself rather than muscle movement, so it pairs naturally with neurotoxin for patients who want both.

Suited for: Patients with early, fine lines who prefer gradual improvement with modest downtime.

  • Acne scarring and other textural scars

Non-ablative fractional 1550 nm treatment is a well-studied option for textural scarring, especially for patients who are not good candidates for ablative resurfacing. Improvement is gradual and usually needs several sessions.

Suited for: Patients with mild to moderate textural scars, including many with deeper skin tones.

What to expect

What to expect from a Revivo treatment

Non-ablative treatment keeps the surface intact, so recovery is short compared with CO2 or erbium. Most patients plan for about 1 to 3 days of visible recovery per session, and the plan is typically 3 to 4 sessions.

  1. Consultation first

Required before any laser treatment. We assess your Fitzpatrick skin type, review your history, medications, and any history of cold sores, and decide which wavelength or combination fits your concern.

  2. Treatment day

Topical numbing is applied beforehand. Most patients feel heat and a prickling sensation as the handpiece moves across the skin. Afterward the skin is red, warm, and slightly swollen, similar to a sunburn.

  3. The next several days

Redness and swelling generally settle over a few days. The treated skin then feels dry and rough and may look slightly darker or bronzed before it flakes away as the skin turns over. Most patients return to normal activities quickly, using makeup once the skin allows.

  4. Across the series

Improvement builds with each session as the skin turns over and collagen remodels. Your provider will recommend spacing and the number of sessions for your goal. Daily sun protection matters throughout.

Common questions

Common questions about the Revivo fractional laser

  • They work at different depths. The 1927 nm wavelength stays close to the surface and is used mainly for sun damage, uneven tone, and surface pigment. The 1550 nm wavelength reaches deeper into the dermis to stimulate collagen for texture, fine lines, and scarring. Using both lets one treatment plan address tone and texture together.
