Collagen Induction
Microneedling Before and After
Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels that prompt the skin to rebuild collagen, softening texture, pores, and acne scarring over a series of sessions. RF microneedling adds radiofrequency energy for deeper tightening.
The results below were treated at La Miel in North Raleigh.
Microneedling at La MielAcne scars form when deep breakouts damage the collagen beneath the skin, leaving depressions in the surface. Results build over a series of sessions. Here is how real La Miel patients changed.

What is microneedling?
Microneedling is a collagen induction treatment. It creates controlled micro-channels in the skin, and the skin responds by building new collagen.
How we use microneedling
Microneedling and RF microneedling soften texture, pores, and acne scarring, with results that build over a series of sessions. Choose a concern above to see what it is and how we treat it.
What to know about microneedling results
Microneedling is a workhorse treatment for texture, acne scarring, mild laxity, and overall skin quality. RF microneedling adds radiofrequency heat in the dermis, the layer where collagen lives.
Most protocols are 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, followed by quarterly or semi-annual maintenance. Expect an early glow at 1 to 2 weeks, meaningful improvement at 4 to 6 weeks, and full results at 3 months, with improvement continuing for 6 months after your last session.
By day 4 to 5 you look normal again, and most patients return to work in 24 to 48 hours with light makeup.
Your microneedling timeline
Typical for a microneedling series. Your provider sets the number of sessions after seeing your skin.
Day 0
Treatment
Topical numbing first, then controlled micro-channels that prompt the skin to rebuild collagen.
First days
Recovery
Warmth, flushing, and some swelling, generally settling over the following days. Protect your skin from the sun.
Every 4 to 6 weeks
Next session
Most protocols are 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
Weeks to months
Results build
Collagen remodeling is gradual, so change shows over the weeks and months after treatment.
Microneedling or RF microneedling?
Both prompt new collagen. The radiofrequency version adds heat for tightening.
| Treatment | How it works | Often chosen for |
|---|---|---|
| Microneedling | Fine needles create controlled micro-injury that prompts collagen | Surface texture and overall skin quality |
| RF microneedling | Adds radiofrequency heat in the deeper layers of the skin | Firmness, early laxity, and deeper textural scarring |
Your provider will recommend one after seeing your skin.
