Botox Before and After

Neurotoxins relax the muscles that crease the skin when you frown, squint, or raise your brows. The goal at La Miel is softer lines with natural movement, never a frozen look.

Every result below was treated in our North Raleigh office by a master-certified RN injector under physician supervision. Filter by area to see forehead lines, the 11s between the brows, crow's feet, lip flips, and lower-face results.

Tox treatments at La Miel

Several small muscles shape the lower face. Results show within about 2 weeks. Here is how real La Miel patients changed.

Crow's feet, also called lateral canthal lines, are the lines that spread out from the outer corners of the eyes. Results show within about 2 weeks. Here is how real La Miel patients changed.

Forehead lines are the horizontal lines that run across the forehead. Results show within about 2 weeks. Here is how real La Miel patients changed.

Frown lines, often called the 11s or glabellar lines, are the vertical lines between the eyebrows. Results show within about 2 weeks. Here is how real La Miel patients changed.

The forehead, the brows, and the eyes work as one group: the muscles that lift the brows and the ones that pull them down balance each other. Results show within about 2 weeks. Here is how real La Miel patients changed.

The orbicularis oris is the ring of muscle around the mouth. Results show within about 2 weeks. Here is how real La Miel patients changed.

Individual results vary. Photos show typical outcomes for the treatment shown, not a guarantee of your result.

What are expression lines?

Expression lines, also called dynamic wrinkles, form where muscles fold the skin every time you frown, squint, or raise your brows: the forehead, the 11s between the brows, and the crow's feet around the eyes.

Over years of movement, sun, and collagen loss, lines that once showed only with expression start to stay visible at rest.

How neurotoxins treat them

Neurotoxins such as Botox, Dysport, Daxxify, and Xeomin temporarily relax the muscle behind a line, so the skin above it folds less and the line softens.

Each area is dosed on its own, with the goal of softer lines and natural movement. Choose an area above to see what it is and how we treat it.

What to know about Botox results

Botox and the other FDA-approved neurotoxins we use (Dysport, Daxxify, and Xeomin) relax the muscles behind expression lines: forehead lines, the 11s between the brows, crow's feet, a gummy smile, and the chin and jaw. The photos above show the same patient before treatment and after the product has taken full effect.

With Botox, the first softening shows at day 4 to 7 and the peak effect arrives at 2 weeks, so plan appointments 2 to 3 weeks before an event. Results last 3 to 4 months on average, and most patients maintain with 3 to 4 treatments per year.

Our approach is conservative first. We would rather see you back in two weeks for a small top-up than leave you over-relaxed.

Your Botox timeline

Typical for Botox. Dysport works a little faster and Daxxify lasts longer; see the comparison below.

  1. Day 0

    Treatment

A few small injections. Avoid lying flat for 4 hours and skip strenuous exercise and facials for 24 hours.

  2. Day 4 to 7

    First softening

The treated muscles start to relax and the lines begin to soften.

  3. Week 2

    Full effect

The peak effect arrives. This is when we check in and adjust with a small top-up if needed.

  4. Months 3 to 4

    Time to retreat

Results last 3 to 4 months on average. Most patients maintain with 3 to 4 treatments per year.
