What neurotoxins actually do
All four FDA-approved neurotoxins (Botox, Daxxify, Dysport, Xeomin) work by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that cause facial muscle contraction. When the muscle relaxes, the overlying skin smooths and the dynamic wrinkle softens. The differences between the four products come down to onset time, duration, formulation, and molecular behavior.
The muscle relaxation is not permanent. After 3 to 6 months depending on the product, the nerve signals return and the muscle regains full movement. Most patients maintain with 2 to 4 visits per year.

Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA)
The original and most widely used neurotoxin. Predictable, well-studied, effective. Lasts 3 to 4 months on average. Earns Allergan Alle points.
Suited for: Precise placement, predictable dosing, first-time patients.
Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA)
The newest FDA-approved neurotoxin. Peptide-stabilized, allowing it to last 4 to 6 months depending on the person, compared to 3 to 4 months for other neurotoxins. Costs more per session but requires fewer appointments per year. Earns Revance rewards.
Suited for: Longer durability, fewer appointments per year.
Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA)
Slightly faster onset than Botox (2 to 3 days versus 4 to 7). Spreads slightly more, making it useful for certain areas like the forehead. Lasts 3 to 4 months. Earns Galderma ASPIRE rewards.
Suited for: Faster onset, slightly wider spread, forehead and other broad areas.
Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA)
Made by Merz Aesthetics, Xeomin is a "naked" neurotoxin, purified to remove the accessory proteins that other neurotoxins carry. Some patients prefer this profile, particularly those who have built tolerance to other neurotoxins over time. Lasts 3 to 4 months. Earns Merz Aesthetics rewards.
Suited for: Patients with tolerance to other toxins, those who prefer the simpler formulation.

Three principles drive the way we dose and place neurotoxin.
Conservative first
We would rather you come back in two weeks for a minor top-up than leave you over-relaxed. New patients often report that this is different from practices they have visited before.
Read the face in motion
We do not just look at static wrinkles; we ask you to animate. Different patients need different placement patterns depending on how their muscles actually fire.
Customized dosing
Men typically need more units than women. Patients who work out heavily often metabolize neurotoxin faster. Very active expressive patients need slightly more. We dose for the person, not the chart.

Results and Follow-Up Policy
At La Miel Aesthetics, every patient responds differently to neurotoxin treatments and individual results cannot be guaranteed.
Duration is influenced by individual metabolism, muscle strength, anatomy, lifestyle and exercise habits, previous neurotoxin exposure, and dosage and treatment area. While most patients experience results lasting 3 to 4 months (4 to 6 months for Daxxify), some metabolize the product more quickly and others experience longer-lasting results.
We recommend scheduling a follow-up approximately 2 weeks after treatment if you have any concerns about uneven movement, areas that did not respond as expected, or early return of movement. Please contact us within 2 to 4 weeks of your treatment so we can properly evaluate your results while the treatment is still clinically assessable.
Concerns reported several weeks or months after treatment cannot always be accurately evaluated because neurotoxin naturally begins to wear off over time. For this reason, concerns reported outside the recommended follow-up period may not qualify for complimentary assessment, touch-ups, credits, or discounts. Touch-ups are performed only when medically appropriate and at the clinical discretion of your provider following an in-person assessment.

A note on pricing
We do not publish per-unit pricing on this page because dose ranges vary widely by area, by muscle strength, and by goal. A consultation includes a specific quote tailored to your actual plan. Typical ranges: forehead 10 to 20 units, "11s" 20 to 30 units, crow’s feet 20 to 30 units (total both sides), masseter 30 to 50 units per side. Financing is available for larger plans.
