What are acne scars?
Acne scars form when deep breakouts damage the collagen beneath the skin, leaving depressions in the surface. They are different from the flat dark marks acne can leave behind.
How microneedling treats acne scars
Microneedling and RF microneedling prompt the skin to rebuild collagen beneath the scars, softening their depth. Most protocols are 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
Your microneedling timeline
Typical for a microneedling series. Your provider sets the number of sessions after seeing your skin.
Day 0

Topical numbing first, then controlled micro-channels that prompt the skin to rebuild collagen.
First days
Recovery
Warmth, flushing, and some swelling, generally settling over the following days. Protect your skin from the sun.
Every 4 to 6 weeks
Next session
