Why treat the lips as part of the face?
Lips lose volume and definition with age, and thin or uneven lips can make the lower face look out of balance. How full lips should be depends on the chin, the nose, and the width of the face.
How we balance the lips
Soft hyaluronic acid filler made for the lips is placed in small, deliberate amounts, planned together with the chin and cheeks. For lip results on their own, see our lip filler gallery.
Your filler timeline
Typical for hyaluronic acid filler. How long it lasts depends on the product and the area.
Day 0
Treatment
15 to 60 minutes depending on the areas, with topical numbing first. You see the change right away.
Day 1 to 5
Swelling settles
Swelling for 1 to 5 days, longer in the lips, and bruising is possible. Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours.
Week 2
Final look
Swelling is gone and the result has settled. This is the result to judge.
Months later
Plan your touch-up
