What causes smile lines?
Smile lines (nasolabial folds) run from the nose to the corners of the mouth, and marionette lines run down from the mouth corners. They deepen as the mid-face loses support and the skin loses collagen, not only from smiling.
How we soften the lower face
Treating the cause often means restoring the cheeks first, then placing filler in the folds themselves only where needed. That keeps the lower face looking natural instead of overfilled.
Your filler timeline
Typical for hyaluronic acid filler. How long it lasts depends on the product and the area.
Day 0
Treatment
15 to 60 minutes depending on the areas, with topical numbing first. You see the change right away.
Day 1 to 5
Swelling settles
Swelling for 1 to 5 days, longer in the lips, and bruising is possible. Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours.
Week 2
Final look
Swelling is gone and the result has settled. This is the result to judge.
Months later
